Who are Friends of TFT?

Forests are of unique value to mankind. They are critical in our fight against some of the greatest threats to this planet and that our species has ever faced; poverty, climate change, cancer and AIDS. Forests help reduce the impact of global climate change by regulating temperatures and weather patterns; they provide 70% of the plants found to be active against cancer and contribute to the livelihoods of 800 million people. We cannot afford to lose them and we need your help to ensure our forests are managed sustainably into the future.

Approximately 32,300 hectares of forest are destroyed every day and with them the extinction of several hundred plant and animal species. Some of the poorest and most vulnerable societies in the world are losing their homes, hunting grounds and their rights and cultural heritage.

To achieve our goal of conserving forests we need to increase the support we currently receive. You could make a real difference helping us in this vital work.

Forest destruction will continue on a vast scale until all we have is the memory of forests as a resource we once had - squandered by our own foolishness. With your help we can ensure that forests remain for future generations.

How can I become a Friend of TFT?

Simply fill in the membership form, print and return to TFT along with a passport sized photograph for your membership card and your donation. We suggest an annual donation of at least £30, but you are free to decide how much to send.

Your donation could:

  • Stop 30 children contracting Yaws, a disfiguring skin infection that can lead to deep bone infections and permanent disfigurement.
  • Pay for a day's training for an indigenous farmer.
  • Buy a wind up radio to ensure indigenous forest communities are able to tune into the local radio station to hear information, news, community meeting dates and times and locations of doctors visits.

If you are a UK tax payer, don’t forget to Gift Aid your donation so that we can claim an extra 28% on top of your donation. (£30 + 28% = £38.40). Download the Gift Aid form and send it back with your membership application.
